Why we process data

We process membership applications and keep a list of members, as required by the Finnish Associations Act (section 11). The data is used to manage membership: processing applications, collecting membership fees, sending meeting invitations and member news.

The legal basis is membership (contract) and the legal obligation to keep a member list.

What we collect

• name, date of birth and municipality of residence
• email address and, optionally, phone number
• for under-15s, the guardian's name and email address
• optionally, interests and a message
• processing details of the application (date, status)

Who can see the data

Only members of the association's board process the data. It is stored with Cloudflare Inc., which acts as a data processor. Any transfers outside the EU by Cloudflare are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. The data is not shared with anyone else.

How long we keep it

Members' data is kept for the duration of membership and deleted within one year after membership ends. Rejected applications are deleted within six months.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to processing. Send your request to info@finpolarnuoriso.fi. You can also lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).
